Divemaster Course

The PADI Divemaster course is your first step into the professional dive world. Think of it as your scuba career launchpad. You'll go from experienced diver to trusted leader—able to guide certified divers, assist instructors, and manage dive activities like a pro.

What you'll learn:

  • Underwater skill refinement to a professional level
  • Leading dives and supervising certified divers
  • Dive site maintenance and mapping
  • In-depth dive theory (physics, physiology, equipment, environments)

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
  • 40 logged dives to start, 60 to certify
  • Current EFR (within 24 months)
  • Medical clearance signed by a physician (within 12 months)

Assistant Instructor

The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course is your gateway to becoming a full instructor. You'll learn how to teach and support scuba courses while gaining hands-on experience in both confined and open water environments.

You'll also explore the PADI teaching system and even get a taste of specialty training techniques—your journey to becoming a full Instructor (OWSI) starts here!

Prerequisites:

  • PADI Divemaster or equivalent
  • Minimum age: 18
  • 60 logged dives (must include night, deep, and navigation dives)
  • Current EFR certification (within 24 months)
  • Medical clearance within 12 months

Specialty Instructor Courses

Want to teach exciting, niche courses like Deep, Wreck, or Enriched Air (Nitrox)? Become a PADI Specialty Instructor and open the door to more fun, more teaching opportunities, and more jobs!

Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT)

The MSDT rating shows you're a well-rounded, experienced instructor. It means you can teach at least five specialty courses and have certified at least 25 divers. It's also the next natural step after becoming a PADI Instructor—and a must-have if you're looking to work at top dive resorts or mentor new instructors.

Requirements:

  • Be a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)
  • Hold 5+ Specialty Instructor ratings
  • Have certified at least 25 PADI divers

IDC Staff Instructor

Want to train the trainers? The IDC Staff Instructor course is your upgrade to mentor status. You'll assist Course Directors, evaluate instructor candidates, and even teach the Assistant Instructor course on your own. If shaping the next generation of dive pros excites you—this is your move.

Requirements:

  • Be a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT)
  • Be an active-status Instructor
  • Medical clearance (within 12 months)
